Well I was burnt from Carl B. Cook N4ERO on the purchase of the now listed SB 101 and SB600. When the radio arrived it was well packed from the UPS store and showed no external damage from rough handling.
Well I sat the rig on the bench and connected it to an antenna and turned to the 40 meter band and noticed that I was hearing conversations on 7.050. This wasn't right so I decided to check the rx sensitivity and found the it to way down on every band from 40 to 10 meters.
I hooked up the motorola service monitor and sinad meter and found it to showing that with 10 microvolts of input signal I would get 10 DB sinad.
Well this was not what I was told on the phone by Mr. Cook. He had told me that he used it to listen to the ham bands with and at this sensitivity he would have had to under there antenna to get a reasonable listening level on the volume control in stead of full blast which I had it turned to.
I had to repair the plastic coupler between the plate cap in the final tank. thought I would investigate the low RX and found that many of the iron cores had been broken like someone had used an allen wrench in them. As a matter of fact the 6.8mhz. transformer core was broke as well. You know this is a large easy to turn transformer core and how it got broke I wonder.
I have been repairing hf - uhf radios for close to 30 years. I have never seen so much damage in one radio.
I finally got an email from him spouting I had threaten ed him and his wife and you know I am more than happy to post all the recorded calls and emails to and from on my website. You ask me in my opinion him being a "Preacher" and the garbage he will sell you isn;t worth doing business with him.
I guess I am left no choice but repair it to try still assist my friend that is presently working on his general. His call is KF4DTG and I have known him for 18 yearsand all of this time he can testify to my knowledge of the workings of a radio.
In his last email I was directed to to call him or email him so he will have to do this in kind. And if you can't understand this Carl B. Cook N4ERO you have chosen to do it here for all to see. As I have honored your request you shall have to do it also no email no calls.
If I am going to get stuck with a junk radio that was perfectly packed and it had to be in this condition before it went into the box end of story.
You know, I know this is an old radio but, I have gotten SB 101's and SB 102's shipped to me before and with far less packing and care in the packing. The radio just had to be ljunk from the begining, and his claim to not knowing how to use the radio "He had the manual" what it is excuse.
Another parts radio from N4ERO

I wish I had used the search feature of the feedback forum
If I had used the search feature of the feedback forum I would have seen the other posts of KC8DCP and other hams that would have stopped me from making this purchase from N4ERO.
I did run a search on google which was the wrong thing to do because it was incomplete as to the complete picture of Carl B. Cook N4ERO.
I have learened an expensive lesson.

Further investigation Of N$ERO's Junk radio he shipped me.
Well I am still digging through this SB 101 and keep finding more and more wrong. The VFO will not come up to proper frequency indication due to issues with the inductor being so unstable. There is no way he didn't know it didn't have this problem. You know something is up when they place wax in the top of the inductor to hold it still.
The receiver is still deaf. I am still persuing this problem
I have tried to adjust it fo top and bottom of the band that is useless as well. I also found a total of 8 out of 15 iron cores in the bottom of the radio. I have replaced all 8 of them.
