Kudos to FedEx and Steve - WB9TOW

I recently purchased a GPR-90 receiver from Steve [WB9TOW] listed on QTH.com Classified. Steve packed the receiver himself, double boxed, and properly protected from damage. He shipped it using FedEx Ground services.
When I unpacked the receiver after it arrived I discovered that the package had been dropped and the bottom of the chassis had been damaged by the sudden blow to the bottom of the unit.
I informed Steve of the issue telling him of the damage and the estimated cost to repair several broken coil forms. He immediately contacted FedEx and forwarded a claim by fax, per their claim processing procedures. LESS THAN A WEEK LATER, FedEx had a check cut and sent to me and, get this, they even included the cost of shipping the receiver for repair.
Bravo for FedEx and special thanks to Steve! I can not help but contrast this experience with several undesirable events with UPS, whose claim service required an inordinate amount of red tape, forms completion, pictures, visits by so-called claim appraisers, etc. etc.
Needless to say, I will continue to recommend FedEx and strongly recommend Steve as a trader and a gentleman.
Am I biased toward FedEx? You betcha!
