kenwood 440
i have a friend who has a kenwood 440 the digital read out is blank and the receive went out is this radio worth fixing ?any idea or where to send it . thanks
Yes, the 440 is worth repairing
Yes the 440 is worth repairing.
It could be something as simple as replacing the battery. Even if it needs shoptime - it's still worth is.
This is a very good radio.
Of course if there is no display there will be no recieve - it is PLL, and it is unlocked. Do yourself and the radio a favor and don't try to see if it transmits while it isn't working. You already did though didn't you. You probably didn't hurt it any more - just don't do it again.
If you take the time, and read the manual, maybe do a bit of web searching, are very careful when you have the radio apart - you may learn stuff about the radio and enjoy it even more.
Of course, if you are going to pitch it - let me know, and I may offer you a couple of $$ for it.
