Help, 73 Mag. Nov. '90 Receiver project.

I recently picked up a little homebrew QRP TX with RX. The RX has a small circuit board that says " 73's Nov. '90 Receiver " on the back. I suspect it's a direct conversion type. Can't seem to get it to tune anything but can hear a little noise.

Any info on this would be great especially if you have the article.
