Another potential scam artist?

For reports of scammers using other people's callsigns. Remember that any callsigns listed in this forum are likely innocent bystanders (subjects of identity theft) and, thus, are probably not guilty of anything. For bad transactions with verified ham operators, use the Feedback Forum instead.

Another potential scam artist?

Post by N2GOZ »

Got a message at 1:42AM this morning about antennas for sale. Goes by the name of Lawrence Froehlich. Usual M.O. on this subject about buying equipment. FCC License Search for any license issued to him in Iowa- NONE! So if he/she is not licensed for HAM or GMRS why does he/she want to buy antennas meant for these services? These scammers must go to some kind of online school for learning how to scam people. They all mess up when writing so that is clue #1. When you post equipment for sale is CASH ONLY and PICK UP ONLY, it means just that. They try to make it look better for you the higher price, but when they send you the (in this case) cashier's check for added monies to send and insurance, the check comes FAKE. Happened to me 1 time and that was the only time. It's seems to be better to do E-MAIL ONLY when selling something, putting your phone number is risky unless you really know who the person your dealing with is and had past dealings with. At least with E-MAIL ONLY shows how to "weed out" the scammer from the real person.
