Info on operating overseas

Just what it says -- this is the place for any discussions not related to Buying, Selling and Trading ham gear. The discussion must be related to Ham Radio.

Info on operating overseas

Post by Kooler »

Guys just need some information on how to operate ham radio overseas particularly Asia like the Philippines, Japan and maybe both Koreas. I'm planning to bring a small antenna and an hf radio and an amplifier. Can somebody direct me on how to go about these? Thanks for your help and some suggestions on how to do it.

Hello:

The ARRL is a big help in this regard. Forget N. Korea.

I oped from Sweden several times. The License was rather expensive. I needed a letter from the police that I was in "good standing. I took a Kenwood at-50 and vertical. It worked much better than a G5RV which I first brought.

The old Kenwoods power supply have a slider switch to operate 220, which was a must.

Forget the amp. Bring a low pass filter and have fun. I have DXCC from sweden. There grey line lasts forever in the summer.
