K9DTC- Dan

Post by KU9R »

I have been buying and selling equipment since I got in the hobby 35 years ago. Never, Never had a problem until now. I purchased a TM-241a from Dan. When I got it the rig was cosmetically in great shape, but I could hit only one repeater and its practically in my backyard. The display died the next day. When I put the meter on the rig is was pushing 100mW. I carefully took the radio apart, and found the display connector CN205 had been hot glued in place, and had finally fallen off. The S-A17 power amp module has obviously been replaced, and had absolutely NO thermal compound on it and was fried. Luckily was an engineer for a local tv station for 15 years. I ordered another connector, and a was able to open the power amp and fix the broken cooked B+ trace leading to the final transistor.......when I bought this from Dan, I was told, and the ad read it worked great.....not so much. To think he had another rig I was looking at hard, but never again will I purchase from this ham. Fool me once, shame on you..........
