Martyn, the radio itself is fine. But you didn't include the advertised power supply ("I am supplying the power lead") -- and it seems to have been done on purpose.
I e-mailed you from work, saying the box arrived at my office; that I'd leave feedback on your website when I got home & opened the package. Within 10 minutes of me sending that message to you, POOF!! -- the ad for the radio disappeared from your website. Like magic that ad was gone! Gee, I wonder why.
None of your ads disappear after an item is sold.
Sure enough, when I got home & opened the box, the power supply wasn't there. Which confirmed what I already anticipated.
And by the way, I never shop at Walmart, and I haven't cashed that $10 check.

Straighten Out My Confusion
I answered an ad by Charles V White KI4VDX offering a Flex 5000a. I get a response indicating that it was sold, however the response was from Martyn. Martyn is in Georgetown Ky and Charles is in Knoxville Tn 185 miles apart. Someone want to set me straight?

I can confirm this.Frozen wrote:Seems a user in Germany (per servers) made this bogus ad on QTH. ... And Scott pulled the listing.

still does not make sense
Scott, My response went to Charles. How did Martyn intercept and reply to it, and then go on to ask me about a rig I had for sale?

Re: still does not make sense
The bad guy placed an ad using the name and callsign of KI4VDX, but used Martyn's email address. The source of the IP was an open proxy server in Germany. Clearly someone is trying to cause trouble, but I am not sure of the motive.w8jn wrote:Scott, My response went to Charles. "We could always use generic, factory pictures like Universal..."

Ouch! Defending your business by disparaging others is bad form!
I have noted quite the opposite in that Universal goes to great length to photograph the individual item as well as avoiding the usual embellishments like "one owner" "always covered" "sold to me as new" that your company seems to lean upon...

Re: W8UAB
He doesn't have to have bought from you to answer the poll. The question is would you buy used equipment from Radio Mart, Nothing more. You don't have to stick your hand in fire to know it will get burned. That is why we have feedback and consumer rating sites. Everyone has the right to do research. and form his own opinion if he will do business with you.Frozen wrote:Quick question... I have searched our records with your details and have found nothing sold to you. Are you claiming to have bought from us?

ebay names for Martyn
Does anyone know the names Martyn sold under on ebay?
I disagree that this poll is meaningless. Your supporters can vote here anomalously if they are concerned about abuse which is very rare on this site. And I'll answer your question with a question. Why would I pay hundreds of dollars more for a rig from you when I could buy it for less here, or even from an established shop? Why must I buy from you to know I'm not getting a good deal?Your arguments don't hold water.
No, never
I haven't bought anything from Martyn but with the antics I saw several years ago from him, I would not even take the chance.
Yes, I think this poll is appropriate.
Don't even ask me to elaborate on this post. I have my reasons for my opinion.

same IP address voting
We have a family of four, all licensed hams living at the same IP address, who would all like to vote. How do we do that?

Re: Larry... Your email
Ms. Allison, That isn't true. Your company's ads stay up there indefinitely, post-sale, as "out of stock". The ad for my radio is the only one to disappear. But I guess now you'll go ahead & remove the other ads just to prove me wrong.Frozen wrote:Larry,
This is Leslie Allison. ALL items "disappear" from the site when an item is sold.
You ask "what the real problem is". Its called false advertising. Here's some advice:
1. If you list a radio as coming with a power supply, then you should send a radio and its power supply.
2. If you don't have a power supply for the radio you're selling, then you musn't advertise that the radio comes with a power supply.
I call this basic common sense. Maybe y'all find that to be an awfully deep concept worthy of future study, I don't know.
Regards,
Larry
