Thank You Feedback Forum....

Thank You Feedback Forum. The comments here and my experiences selling equipment and my observations on eBay (I never sell there) have taught this old Dog new tricks. Just a few in the last 6 months will be entertaining.

I was licensed in 1954 and still hold K6GKU. Over 30 years the biggest unwritten rule was," a ham never screwed another ham on a equipment deal." It was the old fashion," you trusted fellow ham operators." The last few years and eBay has created a crop of shysters, whiners and crybabies. Many of which don't know how to read a ham ad. Maybe some of the following will sound familiar:

"I'll think about it " ...translation; you'll never hear for him again.

"Oh....I wanted a transceiver" translation I never read the ad close enough to know that there were 3 Ramsey QRP transmitter or receiver kits in the ham ad.
Buyers Remorse.

" I'll buy all the Heathkit stuff you advertised': Of course, Sam W6FOL, who is not a ham never mailed the check.

" I've been duped, I feel like an eBay victim: I screwed up on the frequencies of a bunch of 30 meter crystals. I gave the "eBay victim" a full refund and let him keep on of the crystals that was OK for 30 meters. The freqs of all the xtals were listed in the ham ad. He just didn't read it......assuming he could.

" After seeing the pictures, this equipment is the worst for wear." This was a bunch of 1952 Heathkit gear. This particular buyer had begged me to give him first dibs if I sold it. I already sold him an AT-1 which was not the quality of what I was selling. Folks this is "Buyers Remorse". It comes in many shapes. If you have second thoughts on buying something, be up front and honest. " I've changed my mind is an honest answer."

The last 6 months and Feedback Forum have made this crusty old ham a lot smarter. Thanks Bob K6GKU in Texas Y'all Be Well

PS: if any of you have some additions, please post them. Make us all smarter.
