POWER LINE NOISE

Post by KA2SSX »

HI AL-If you are not trying it, I would be using the digital noise reduction on the ft-897d. Also, your vertical antenna is a little noisier, due to the man-made noise generally being vetically polarized. If you can, I would build a wire full-wave loop for whatever band you have room for, feed it with 450 ladder-line. You can use a 4:1 current balun to get some coax into the shack, if you can't get the ladder-line inside. The loop is a quieter antenna, and might be worth some time and a few bucks worth of parts to try out, plus you then have an alternate antenna to use. Good luck. Glenn-----KA2SSX.

thanks glenn for your input.i can definitly put a ladder line down to 40 meters where i am.as far as the digital noise reductions on the yaesu forget it.besides the utility company field rep came by today and found the culprit.hopefully when they come to fix it,it will either eliminate the noise or drop it considerably.thanks again for your input.73s KC5-VZP
