David Roberts W8DSR/WD8RYH, a crooked shyster

Please be advised and forewarned, do not purchase anything from David Roberts! He posts items for sale using (2) call letters, W8DSR (his current call) and WD8RYH (his former call). Why is he doing this? I suspect it is to deceive people. On May 17, 2010 I responded to an ad he posted on QTH.com for amplifier parts, specifically for a Jennings vacuum variable capacitor. I subsequently purchased this item from him for $100 plus $15 shipping. When I received the item (wrapped in bubble wrap) the ceramic vacuum capacitor was cracked and showed evidence of being dropped or struck against a hard surface rendering it worthless. There was no evidence of damage to the shipping box or bubble wrap, so the item was shipped in a damaged condition. I advised Mr. Roberts of the condition of the item and he stated he did not notice the damage and advised to send the item back and he would refund my money. After waiting a month I called him. He claimed he had been in the hospital and would not beat me out of a refund. I have heard nothing from him and he will not answer my phone calls. It is quite obvious he is not going to send me a refund. He now has my money and the damaged capacitor. With regard to my contacts with Mr. Roberts he has offered the following excuses for not contacting me: His computer "blew up", he was about to purchase a new Apple computer, he was using a Blackberry for emails, he had been in the hospital. Lots of excuses but no refund. I have documentation on everything concerning my transaction with him. Check out his QTH.com feedback. It is not very encouraging. Mr. Roberts is still posting ads for items he has for sale on QTH.com. Do yourself a huge favor and avoid this guy like the plague.
