Fellow hams beware of this scam for free gear and donations from Ron, VE4AKF. He was given a complete soid state station by the kind fellows at the Ontarioswapshop.com and warned not to post ads like this:

Disabled Ham on limited , very limited budget of Canada Pension disability looking for a donation of a an older tube,hybrid or solid state transceiver. My months money is all gone paying all the utility bills. I don't get that much money. I suffer from severe nerve damage to my mid body and feet.I lost everything I owned including the ham shack by selling it. Gov't works slow here, and my the time disability came through, everything was sold. I had to pay the bills somehow. I missed my station so much - the best hobby I had. Can anyone find it in their heart to help me and my words are factual on true.
I donate gear regularly to Clubs, Red Cross Emergency Stations and disabled hams on low incomes-- and he almost got me...but I found out just in time...
I want to pass this along to those generous hams with a social conscience and those who enjoy helping others bcuz it feels good to give.

IFROM; The Ontario Swap Shop.com It has come to our attention that both you Anthony, VE4AKF and Ron VE4AKW have been asking for free ham gear on certain ham swap sites claiming to be in true need..We believe this request is false and is in breach of the " CRIMINAL CODE OF CANADA ". At the very least someone using your both of your email accounts has been endorsing this request. In the fall of 2008 the " OSS " in good faith sent out a complete ham station to Ron VE4AKW. We have in the past spoken to both you and your brother many times on the phone.. These records and all others have been archived. It appears we may have been defrauded in the good faith we offer. Ron sent us, as we had requested an email at that time claiming someone was using his identity. We published that email and supported his claim at that time. That is the end of the story. Period. We no longer buy into any of it. You both are now considered to be persons of interest.

Other vulnerable hams now in the process of kindness are also on the verge of being defrauded by you two and others it appears. We have cautioned them not to honour your advertisements. We ask you to cease and desist immediately . A general warning will be issued on the " OSS " today. Many of our members are prepared to support us in taking quick action to prevent any future fraud attempts by both of you or any of your agents as we see necessary.
They have agreed to assist us working will both Manitoba Police and the RCMP along with their U.S.A. counterparts to seek and justify an arrest warrant. Please reply to us with your intent to cancel this fraud attempt using any method or technique or police and civil action will be launched this week. This is not a threat, but is a true statement of fact. We are also prepared to fly to Winnepeg and testify in a court of law on this matter, We will ask for an immediate " PRIVATE INFORMATION " from a Justice of the Peace this week in Winnepeg if you do not fully comply with this request. Disscussions will also take place with your local Crown Prosectors as is deemed necessary.
