SHERMAN LUTEN (AE4XL) - BEWARE!

I recently purchased a radio on this forum from Sherman Luten (AE4XL) from Mansfield, TN. The ad stated the radio was AS NEW. When I received it, I noticed that the microphone had electrical tape on both ends of the cord covering some exposed wiring. I asked Sherman about the condition of the cord and he said he did not see any tape on anything when he bought it. I guess he has some sight issues because you can't miss it. When I asked if he would work with me to resolve the problem, he said as far as he was concerned, the deal was final.
If that wasn't bad enough, after I powered up the radio, I discovered the DTMF function on the microphone DID NOT WORK. I guess he also missed that small detail when he bought (and used) the radio.
So much for hams looking out for one another. I would not purchase anything that this person lists for sale on this forum or anywhere else ever again.
