checking tubes

can anyone tell me if it is possible to check and 813 and a 250 th tube without a tube checker?

With the pin-outs, you can check for continuity on the heater / filament and shorts between the elements. That's about it. Probably 1625's & 807's are the biggest transmitting tubes the old testers could check. Everything else was "test by replacement:. Considering that the 813 & 250TH take can take about 2.5 KV on the plate and about 50 watts on the filament, you'd need an awfully hugh tester to get accurate results.
