BEWARE of Lee Rising K6THQ

Post by AI4FR »

I got scammed and received pure junk. In short Lee Rising K6THQ sent different radios then advertised and did not send all of the advertised items. And 90% of what he did send DOES NOT WORK!!! All items have serious issues, too many to list. Some appear to have suffered a lightning strike.

The original cost of the package was $89 shipped. But later Lee said he tossed in additional HT items and now wanted $100 shipped. Heavier box and all.
Payment was by check.
Check mailed 1-29-22
Items arrived 3-11-22 (41 days later). You read that right(41 days later).

Pictures show some of the damage and the different models then what Lee advertised. Lee claims that any “reasonable person” would know that he was not sure of the model numbers on his radios. He called them UV5R’s in his ad, we discussed UV5R’s by email, the model is on the radios and the boxes, yet Lee NOW claims he did not know the model numbers. I asked for a refund but Lee will not issue it.

Some additional issues with the items.
All were supposed to be UV5 models!!
There are two UV-82 models and one UV-82L.
UV-82L has a bad PTT switch and the display is severely scratched. It is difficult to even read it. Battery is glued on. Unusable.
There is no “tall blue UV5?”
All have scratched displays.
Two HT's have their battery packs glued on.
On one radio someone tried to pry off the battery and has damaged the casing.
Manufacturer sticker/logo is missing on several.
Rubber side covers are broke off.
One charging port has the inside fins cut out. Thus the HT does not sit in the socket properly to charge. It’s junk.
Only two of the five batteries will hold a charge more than a few hours. I specifically asked if the batteries were good.
There are only 3 programming cables and not 5 as promised.
There is NO charger for the three UV82’s.
Total operational chargers = 1.
Three antenna’s are useless with off the chart SWR as measured on a VNA. One is actually bent and rattles.
Radios have not been tested for function. I will need new batteries for that.
Lee did not provide any pictures.

Below is Lee’s ad.
1 blue UV5? in pieces (the only thing that does not work.
1 tall blue UV5? works
1 8W HT, Black (actually 5 W) works
2 tall black UV5?
5 chargers and 4 wall warts
5 program cable 9 1 in pkg) 1 copy of programming disk
1 Spkr mic
1 ear phone/mic
numerous antennas
5 boxes
