My experiences with SWR bridges and wattmeters began decades ago with the McCoy QST article. It evolved to the Heathkit Wattmeter, the Bird 43 and 4410 wattmeters, the Diamond SX-100 to the Daiwa CN801 2KW and 3 KW versions. Recently, I decided to indulge myself and planned the purchase of the Telepost Inc. Model LP-100A digital readout wattmeter. I sent my order in to Larry Phipps N8LP at Telepost Inc. along with a bank check. Shortly thereafter, I emailed to ensure that the check arrived timely and to ensure the correctness of my mailing address. Larry confirmed the order and mailing date and indicated that the receipt of my check coincided with his Dayton Hamfest promotional (unbeknownst to me) and that I was entitled to a 10% discount. True to his word, the meter arrived with the check enclosed for $46.00. I thanked Larry for the kind thought and I felt it necessary to share with others that ethics and professionalism still exist in the amateur radio ranks and manifested by this unselfish gesture. It doesn't happen too often but I wanted to thank Larry in some small way by posting the details of this experience with other amateurs. Ron W2CQM/3
