KT4KI Ken Brownson Terrible Seller

Post by KR5E »

On July 1st I answered an ad on QTH.com for a Yaesu g-2800 rotor with mast mount and controller that was being sold by Ken Brownson KT4KI asking if he would sell the rotor less the controller. He answered yes and gave me a price including shipping I agreed with the price and mailed him a check that day. After 10 days I asked if the check had cleared and when he would ship. I knew the check had cleared my bank on July 7. He replied yes and he would be shipping On Friday or Monday and would send a tracking number. For the next several weeks I would ask if it had been shipped but he always used the excuse that he did not have transportation to get to the post office. On August 12 I emailed Ken and told him I had a friend going to the Huntsville ham fest that would come by and pick up the rotor. His reply was he was renting a car and taking a trip and would not be home. On August 14 I received an email with a tracking number and received the rotor on August 18. The mast clamps were not included with the rotor and I called Ken and he said if he could find them he would ship when he had time. The next day I hooked it up to a new controller and cable and the rotor did not work, The Arco controller displayed a message that it could not connect to the sensor. To make sure it was the rotor and not the new controller or cable I purchased a new rotor to test and it came online and worked perfect. I hooked Kens rotor up to try again and sure enough it had the same error message. Today, August 22 I have sent Ken an email asking for a refund and advising him I will be shipping the defective rotor back to him on Monday.

If anyone would like to see the email messages I would be happy to send them to you. Just beware of Ken Brownson KT4KI in Springfield Alabama I am not the first to have this problem and get the transportation problem excuse.
