40 meter mobile problem

Post by n4jjp »

I run an Alinco dx-70th mobile. I use Iron Horse antennas. The only band that I have any problems on is 40 meters. Every time I key up it causes the car to spit and sputter. Any ideas. Thaks Jeff N4JJP

The power cord is connected straight to the battery. I will try the additional grounding. Thanks and 73 Jeff N4JJP

If it's any consolation, when I transmit on 40 meters using my Hi-Q-Antennas 3/80 in my 1997 Chevy Tahoe, it pegs my speedometer. Fortunately, this doesn't seem to cause any problems, except not knowing how fast I am driving. Cruise control continues to work though.
