I WANTED TO PASS ALONG SOME OF MY EXPERIENCES WITH THE BAOFENG UV-5R HT'S.-THEY ARE A COMPLETE WASTE OF MONEY!-THE TECHNICAL OFFICER IN MY AMATEUR RADIO CLUB, WHO IS A GENIUS TYPE TECHIE FOR AT&T, TRIED 3 TIMES TO CONFIGURE ONE OF MINE USING 3 DIFFERENT PROGRAM CABLES AND THE CHIRP PROGRAM-AFTER THE 3RD. TRY HE SUCCEEDED BUT WITH THE 2ND. UV-5R HE HAD NO SUCCESS AT ALL. PLEASE DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY ON ONE OF THESE CHINESE POS! :twisted:

There are instructions to be found online that simplify this process. I have four Baofeng radios and have programmed them all with using only the keyboard.
