I figured I could fix the rig and the price was good so I took a chance and responded. I paid via PayPal. Eddie sent me an email the next day and sent me an email with the tracking number. A couple of the numbers were transposed and I asked Eddie via email if he would check the number to insure it was good. Hi sent me a copy of the receipt and it was clear that transposed numbers was the cause. I told him "No Worries"
The radio arrived at my house April 1st and as I took the padded Priority Mail envelope from the postman I commented, "This is no way to ship a radio, I know this is not going to end well.". The postman agreed. I took lot's of pictures as I unpacked because I knew, a radio shipped in an envelope was going to be damaged. And it was. The VFO encoder and one of the small cooling fins were broken off.
I sent Eddie the following email to let him know the rig was damaged.
Eddies response blew my mind. All of a sudden it was my fault for "doubting him".Good Morning Eddie,
Please see the attached pictures. You'll see that because of improper packing, this radio arrived damaged. You can't even make an insurance claim.
I've also taken a video of me opening showing your package as well as me unpacking it.
I'm very unhappy Eddie. I was so confident after reading some of your positive reviews that W2LEC knew how to properly pack a radio.....
What do you want to do?

Hi Steven,
This is the first time I have had any issue with a radio being damaged in transit. I have had trouble with this transaction from the beginning with you doubting my shipping even though I provided the tracking number and copy of receipt. Even though I sold the radio as is I will offer you a full refund of the original amount. That includes the money I ate for shipping. As I am in between pay checks it will be at least two weeks. Please let me know if this is acceptable as it is the only course I have. If you feel other action is necessary please let me know beforehand so I can defend myself.
Eddie
In the end, we agreed that Eddie would send me $30 to cover the broken encoder and my labor. If I would wait 2 weeks. I agreed. Then I needed to wait another week and now, a month later, still no Money Order from Eddie Cail.
I filed a claim with PayPal and Eddie wants to fight me on it, so here we are, in a public forum.
Paypal refunded my money. All $100 of it.
DO not buy anything from Eddie Cail W2LEC. He's is incapable of shipping items correctly. Only a Fool or a Cheap Azz would ship a radio in a Priority Mail Envelope.
