(Help) with a Kenwood 940s

Post by n4rrh »

I have a 940 that transmit and receive on all bands but 12 and 10 meter. Sometimes when I first turn it on (when cold) it will work on 12 & 10 but only a few secounds then quit. Everything else works great. I have check cold solder joints and plugs. I need your help and would be greatly appreicated. My email address is reg1647@aol.com Thanks for you time, Reggie N4RRH

Sound like it could be a bad crystal since it works when cold then quits.

Good luck on finding the offending part(s).

happiness is a hair dryer and a can of air.

turn canned air upside down and give short spurts into areas of the radio you suspect.
that should keep it cool enough to work longer..
you can direct canned air to very specific parts. and its super cold.

for all trouble shooters. if you have a ''wont work when cold'' problem
use hair dryier to heat up before turning on.. heat different parts..
figure out just where the cold broblem is,, then once its working, cool down individual parts to
return to non working condition...
