K7FF: Did he just forget about our scheduled meet??
Recently, I had placed an ad in the F/S section that I had a set of Kenwood Twins, the TS-711A & TS-811A VHF/UHF units available. That night, at 10:30 pm, my phone rings and it is K7FF on the other end asking, "is it too late to talk?"...well guess not, now that I am awake. Anyway, he was interested in purchasing these units for the stated price. Since he lived about 400 miles away, I suggested I could deliver them to a location more than half way for me at a large retail business parking lot in Manteca, CA. He lived about an hour away, from my estimate. He agreed, and afew days later we set a time/date when to meet, which was this past Tuesday the 6th at 10:30am. I asked him if he had a radio in his truck so we be able to communicate, as we never met before. He said NO he didnt, but gave description of his Dodge Durango pickup and I told him, plus I sent a picture of my Dodge 1 ton to him, just to make things easier. He also asked me for directions and so I sent him a MapQuest map of the locations. Cant miss this place, I guarantee it. He sent me an email Monday night confirming time of the meet as 10:30am, and that "he'd be there". On Tuesday morning I drove 2.5 hours and arrived at the location at 10:25am and setup in the edge of the parking lot, facing the only 2 entrances to this business, so I could keep an eye out for this pickup. At 12 noon, I hadnt heard a peep from him via my cellphone, as he had the number, and so I called his home phone, which I had and left a message stating that since he hadnt arrived yet, and no communications from him, I considered him "a NO SHOW", and I headed back home, another 2.5 hours. If he had called me and let me know he was running late or had vehicle problems, I wouldnt be so @#$% about this deal, but he didnt make any effort. To this date, he hasnt called me much less sent me an email explaining why he didnt show. Guess he figured he hadnt paid for the gear yet, so he wasnt out anything. Well, I was out of about $65 worth of diesel fuel plus my time. I see all these positive remarks on the feedback portion for him, and I just wondered why he "stiffed" me. I would be very wary of dealing with anyone like him, as I know it wont be me, that's for sure.
