Just what it says -- this is the place for any discussions not related to Buying, Selling and Trading ham gear. The discussion must be related to Ham Radio.

Antenna analyzer for UHF and higher. What do I use?

Post by N3NJ »

I am easing my way into VHF/UHF and up, expermenting various modes, Sats, EME etc. I am clueless about antenna analyzers for these bands. What does one use for these bands including 1.2 GHz? Is there less expensive way to do this? Thanks in advance for your help.

UHF+ Ant Analyzer

Hi Mark
Anritsu Sitemaster S 311 D has a range of 25-1600 Mhz, i suspect its quite pricey though.Saw a homebrew unit that N9ZIA built from a UHF VCR tuner that tops out at 900 Mhz. Here's a link(qsl.net/N9ZIA/wireless/antenna-analyzer-pictures.html).

Hello,

I use the vector network analyzer by DGASAQ, an excellent device.

Write-ups on the instrument can be found in QEX. Or, look here for info: http://www.sdr-kits.net/VNWA/VNWA_Description.html.

I have no financial interest in this device -- just hoping to raise the bar in measurement instrumentation (at a lower price, of course)

Have fun!
