ICOM IC-745, IC-740 battery issue

Post by N4AOO »

I have been looking at the IC-745 and IC-740 as a rig to get back on the air. I am concerned about the volatile memory in the IC-745 and the difficulty of changing the battery. Does anyone know if the IC-740 has the same problem? Thanks in advance for any info.

740 Battery

The 740 has no battery. I have one. It takes an EXTERNAL source for memory capability.

If you have the built in PS-740, then the external 12V is not necessary.

IC-745 battery...

Hi. I sent for IK2RND`s EPROM/RAMBOARD card, and am completely satisfied.
No more problem when the battery dies on me. The radio`s programmation is not affected anymore. Only the freqs in memory need to be put back in.

Well worth the money!
