Just what it says -- this is the place for any discussions not related to Buying, Selling and Trading ham gear. The discussion must be related to Ham Radio.

Stacking TA-33JR Antennas

Post by WA9WVX »

Hello Charles,

Your request for stacking Mosley TA-33JR Tri-Band Beam antennas is interesting although I'm not sure how well you have thought out the requirements to achieve doing this idea.

1. Do you have 1 to 2 Acres of property?

2. Does your property have the proper C,C & Rs from the City and/or County?

3. Do you understand that you will be required to have a rotating tower at least 70 to possibly 132 Feet tall and sufficent guying?

4. Sufficent financial funding to achieve your goal?

From my research I've read that there is not an optimum rule of thumb spacing for Tri-Band Beam antennas but it's recommended to space between 33 and 40 Feet or as much as 66 Feet depending on what you are trying to achieve with your amateur radio station and the antenna system.

I'm providing several web links for you to better answer some of your questions:

http://www.mosley-electronics.com/

http://www.k0xg.com/home/

http://www.ticgen.com/

http://www.radiancorp.com/ Then click on the ROHN Logo.

These will get you started and perhaps you will submit some questions to the Tower Talk website on your set up.

Oh Yeah, one other item to mention "if" you decide to implement your idea, Do Not avoid submitting the required Permit paperwork with Mechanical Drawings for a larger Supporting Structure (tower) to the Building Department as your consequences can turn out to be financially disastrous.

Thanks so much for the information. I was unaware that is was so involved.

I live on 12 arces with no city ordinances or laws restricting any antenna configuration but I not sure I want to tackle the other issues you mentions.

Thanks so much for your reply.
