IC-746: Restriction of a signal on peak

Post by letagr25 »

Hello All !
My ICOM IC-746 is "clicking" while AGC is turned on.
It's "clicking" more when the PREAMP1 is on.
When AGC off everything is alright.
This thing is shown when I'm listening to the strong signals (SSB or CW).
Please help me: what kind of malfunction it can be?
Thanks
George

Not sure, but I assume the clicking is not mechanical. If the noise blanker
is on, strong signals will be distorted on voice peaks.

Try it with blanker off, preamps off, RF gain at mid-range.

I had a 746 and now a 746PRO. Never had to use a preamp.

Hope this helps.
