I have a 10 Meter unit I bought a couple years ago and put into storage because of the lack of activity on it. I was told when I bought it, that 10 meters would be pretty much useless because of the SunSpots that would be elevated within a years time of purchasing it. Can someone confirm this for me. I just put it back in my car and purchased a new antenna, but it so far I haven't made a single contact on it within a week. It's got LSB, AM, FM and USB and I haven't heard a single person on it yet, other than a faint CW signal about a week ago.
Help!!!!

Be patient!
When the conditions pick up again, you; ll find that 10 meters is a world-wide band with more dx than you`ll be able to handle....even mobile!
It`s coming......

Thanks for your post, I was more worried that there's something wrong with my radio than the fact I haven't heard any calls on it since I've turned it back on. When you say be patient, how long is that? Weeks, months or another year? Just trying to narrow it down.
Thanks for any and all information.

Well, Bob, I think that we have passed the minimum and are going uphill.
But I`m no expert, and I surely can`t even guess at when things will be markedly better.
Dx`ers know best! :-)
If you can find Amateur DX sites , they will have the info.

From what I have read, we are not at the minimum yet. Maybe next year, but it will be at least 2-3 years to see any improvement.

There, you have it, Bob.
It seems that it will get worse before it gets any better.....
Still, it should be worth it...

Bob,

The Ops that use USB on 10 Meters hang around 28.3 MHz ~ 28.8 MHz and you'll find the FM Simplex & Repeaters above 29.6 MHz. You'll find the DX stations as active on 10 Meters as any other H.F. Band. And CW only operation can be found befween 28.0 MHz~28.3 MHz. Many times the CW mode is the only thing that penetrates the Poor signal conditions.

Unfortunately with the Low Sunspot Cycle, you'll find the Illegal Citizen Band operators otherwise known as: Free Banders operating in the our 10 Meter Amateur Band.

When 10 Meters is open, you'll be able to work the world with 10~25 W Output.
