Ameritron AL80B Amplifier

My 80b keeps dipping the Grid/ip meter backward when I attempt to tune or when I transmit. Plate current very low. Difficult to tune. Can tune to max output and Amp seems to work just fine. No negative on air reports. Condition is intermittent. Does not occur every time. When it does occur no difference if thru tuner or bypass or antenna or dummy load. Any thoughts on this problem or perceived problem. As I said the amp seems to work fine. And yes I have followed the tuning procedures step by step very meticulously.
