FT-911A mars/cap mod

Post by Wretch »

I have a new FT-911A and I’m researching expanding Tx on HF and VHF/UHF but It’s a little confusing. I had a FT-991 a few years ago, back then I watched a YouTube video that gives you HF Tx only so did the MARS mod shown (bridged JP3003). It was more disassembly then I like but it was worth it. It’s been a few years and I do a little horse trading and one of the newer FT-991A has been added to my stable and I’m wanting to take a look inside. Surely after all this time and the vastness of the World Wide Web I can learn something new and someone has cracked the VHF/UHF Tx side of this radio but no joy :/

Here’s what I got so far: I found some photos in descriptions of how to mod this radio and I noticed how some pictures show JP3001/JP3002 with micro-min chip resistors and others show them simply bridged hmmm...

Any mars mod should be available from your Mars co-ordinator.. Also,,if Mars uses vhf uhf...
Any other,, suggests use in un-authorized frequencys and is probably why you have had no replys , as most hams will not assist in messing up a prefectly good radio.
