Hi all. I have two 40 meter ham sticks . What I would like to know is if I mount them on my truck will I need a tunner to use them on 10 and 20 meter.they were given to me a few years back . Just trying to figure out what I can do with them .thanks and 73

You will most definitely need a tuner to run on anything other than 40 meters. Or, if you'd like to use one of them on a different band, you can peel back the black plastic covering to expose the copper wire that is wound on the fiberglass. De-solder from the top and unwind from the coil and re-solder/test until it resonates on the band you want. When you find the resonant spot, wrap it with waterproof tape or shrink wrap tube.

I converted a 40 meter hamstick to 30 m this way and it works great. Good luck.
