Hello all:

I just stumbled upon a new group (Collins618T) that is starting up for the Collins 618T aircraft transceiver. A little about the transceiver for those that do not know anything about it. The 618T transciever is a main stay for the commercial and military HF long range communications. I think they are even being used today. The system consists of a control head that mounts in the cockpit, a transceiver that mounts in the avionics bay along with an antenna coupler. The output power of this system is 400 watt PEP 100 watts AM and CW with a frequency range of 2.000 to 29.999 MHz in 1KHz steps. Power requirements are depending on model of transceiver as there is a 618T2 and a 618T3 you may even run across a 618T1 which uses even different power requirement, the most common is the 618T2 most common, that uses 3 phase 400 hz power at 700 VA and 27.5 VDC the other sytem is the 618T3 that uses 27.5 VDC at 35 amps and 400 hz single phase power at 100 VA. This should be a very interesting radio system to get up and operating as they sound wonderful, real punchy Collins audio.
