Heathkit Mohawk receiver

Post by slick »

I have just acquired a Heathkit Mohawk. I can't get any receive from it, not even "white noise" I was wondering if the accessory plug on the back has to be shorted like the Yaesu's did? TNX>

At the risk of being too simplistic, have you checked the speaker??......Lee, K4LJP

Yes I did. Still nothing. From the hams that I have talked to, this receiver does not need to be shorted at the accessory plug. Tnx anyway.

That doesn't mean it wasn't modified to use an accessory connection to mute the receiver during transmit.
Schematic shoud be available.
and look for an extra octal socket onthe rear apron. That would be the likely modification back in the day.
Likely on lead of such socket would go to ground,, which would leave another lead going to the cathode of one of the audio tubes (most likely anyhoo......)
jUST SOME LOGICAL GUESSES.
