I got this radio a couple months ago from used list at HRO Burbank, was told it was fully working, well it didnt, LSB didnt work, so no 40 or 80. oh well I wanted it for MARS anyway. Well now today it quit transmitting. Should I spend the money to get it fixed or throw it in the corner and get another.

as the saying goes.. 'you're a ham,,fix it''

first off try some trouble shooting. LSB didnt work..
spray clean the usb lsb switch..
it might be failing in both sides now.

does it put out carrier in CW mode.. as in tuning up....?????

try vox.. does your mic cause vox to kick in.. if not maybe no mic output.

is mic level turned way down.. no audio /no indicated output...
do you have another mic to try..???

get help from and elmer..

I was working on a drake that had no measureable output.. but i could here it on another radio with the antennas 100 feet apart.
so it was working up to a point.. just very low power.

do not pay anyone to 'fix' it before you have at least a wild idea of what is wrong.

Before you do that, you might turn the VCO trimmers (think there is one for 40/80). Sometimes they get a bit of corrosion, etc. and spraying them and exercising them, may or may not fix the problem. Worth a check before you spend $300 on a $400 radio. GL>
