PAYPAL (and others) are finally invaded by BIG BROTHER

Post by K9XR »

Starting January 1. 2011 PayPal will start keeping track of everybody's transactions and will be sending 1099 forms to anyone who has receipts of $20,000 or more. If you have multiple PayPal accounts, the total of all accounts will be counted. The 1099 will report the GROSS amount of receipts. All money transferring services will be affected by these new IRS rules.

Finally, Power Sellers and others will be forced to pay taxes on this "extra" income.
If they make $20k or more, they should be paying Social Security Tax on it as well.

It is about time....Maybe they can get all of the other internet sellers to pay their taxes as well.

That is not good to hear about but expected it was coming. I'm by no means a Power seller but big time sellers or businesses do not usually pay taxes as they build it into the cost of the item there selling. So the buyer ends up paying the Taxes and the seller simply collects and gives it to the Govt. I'm still waiting for some one to name any country that taxed it's self into prosperity.KA9MOT you sound like a left wing democrat wanting to punish the successful by taking from them with taxation.

I'm talking about untaxed income. That is why the IRS is involved. These people make $20K or more per year gross income. I am sure some pay taxes on this income but I bet most do not declare the income.

Do yourself a favor......try very hard to understand what the conversation is about before making Generalizations. It makes you look like a stupid fool.

Here are your hints:
PayPal: How many legitimate businesses use it? Some do.
IRS: Can usually be equated with INCOME TAX
Nobody pays sales tax on an item purchased online unless there is a store in the same state as the buyer.
Do you pay your income tax on all of your income? Don't you believe everybody should?

Jeez...on another site I was accused of being a Tea Bagger......I wish you guys would figure it out already

Steve first off your the one who made it sound as if you want more Taxing, also i do not appreciate being called a fool. I also only suggested that your comment sounded like a left wing Democrat. I usually have no problem with what you or any one else says but i never resort to calling any body any name that i would not say to their face, and calling me a fool takes things to a different level. I fully understood what AL was writing and i do not believe he was just referring to Businesses but to the effect on private sellers. So i stand by my comments whether here or standing in front of you....

So private sellers who gross $20K or more in sales should not have to pay income Tax? And at what point does a private seller become a business?

I did not call you a fool. I said an action that you took (Posting with-out knowing what the conversation was) and making assumptions about me, and then voicing those assumptions (That dirty Democrat statement), makes you appear to be a fool. I did not call you a fool, though the evidence is mounting.

Steve i'm not going to get into a whizzing contest with you as calling names behind a computer proves nothing. We have a disagreement and misunderstanding of opinions. So by your referring to me a fool and for me to allow it to anger me would be foolish being as i'm in Kansas where as your in illinois which means it is very unlikely i would ever have the opportunity to face you. So i'll give you the advantage and drop it .
But will make one point on the $20,000 in sales which is in todays world of business is not a lot of money but i do believe it or not understand your point also and i could have used a better decription of your opinion but did not so here we are today in disagreement. It will be interesting to see how sellers like Radio Mart handles the news....

A person selling off the estate of a deceased ham could easily exceed $20K. I guess this is another gov. double-dip form of inheritance taxation. Surely it is not real income as the husband/wife team likey have already paid taxes on the income that originally paid for the gear. What with the boom generation having the Social Security-retirement carrot dangled at an ever increasing distance it is like salting the wound for people who expire before they ever catch up with that moving target !
After paying in for all those years, no social security and the money takers want a chunk of anything you may leave the wife and kids.
The price of creeping socialism.
OK, So where are the filters now ?
