Several times I have seen postings saying that they could not put a picture with the ad because it was too large to upload. I had the same problem until I received a tip on how to do it.
Stand back about 3 to 4 feet from the item you want to take a picture of and snap the photo.
When you transfer it to your computer your photo program should have a spot where you can crop the picture.
Crop the picture to just around the item and then save it. You will then see that the item is still clear and the size of the photo is now under the 100 kb size limit.
Don't forget to use your flash.

Image Resizer and Photo Resize Magic are two small, free programs that let you resize your picture with a few clicks. I generally go for about 650 pixels in width, and let the height fall where it may.

The second one (image resizer) requires The Net framework, but I believe that many Microsoft operating systems may have this utility already. If not, it is also free, but big.

I found two programs on line that are just great. One is called photo resizer

the other is colorcast fx from cannon
the first can resize any photo, I found changing to 500 pixels works great, the other can take your photo and brighten, take out red-eye etc. It works better than some of the software I purchased in the past. I use it all the time for sending pictures for email and to brighten photos downloaded.
I edited this because when I d/l these a year or so ago they were free, now it seems that the first tries to sell you the "pro" program.If you do a google on them I'm sure you can find them. I have never had these programs quit or ask for a license number etc. Worth a look. I don't remember where I downloaded them from but something tells me cnet.com
