SITE SPEED

Post by KA9FOX »

As you may have noticed, the speed of the swap.qth.com site has been getting slower and slower over the past couple of months. The problem was finally traced down and fixed, and as of Sunday, 3/2/03, the system is MUCH faster. I want to thank those of you that took time to contact me regarding the problem.

reason for slowness

Post by KA9FOX »

The reason for the slowness was one of the fields in the database that was indexed somehow got un-indexed. :D

Hi Chuck! Glad to know you've had good experience with the speed of the site. If you look at the bottom of every page on the QTH.com Classifieds, there is a line that tells you how long it took to generate the page. Typically it takes several hundred milliseconds, to maybe a couple seconds. During the worst times, it got up close to 20+ seconds, which is unacceptable. After the indexing change, it is now much closer to a couple seconds per page, which is much better!

Thanks for using the service!

Not a problem Scott. It's a great service, I've used it alot and still ain't sent you no money... I'm such a bad boy

if and when I get back on my feet, (I've been unemployed since 3/2002) I will try send you some sort of support funds. heck, I had to let my ARRL membership go as well... My credit card hasn't had a payment in a while... it sucks... the good news is, that I got my CDL-A license and I got a couple of jobs possibly lined up and I'll be back to work here in the neext few days. :D :) 8)

Anyhow... that Dentron over your right shoulder in that picture of you on your website, which one is that? Clipperton L? or MLA-2500? You wanna sell it? :P
