Have a happy and safe 4th

Post by NA6TE » Fri Jul 01, 2011 11:32 am

It has been 7 weeks (as of Sunday 7/3) since Steve KA9MOT supposedly shipped the FT-857. Steve has not suppled any information pertaining to the shipment, including the USPS he reportedly spoke with. I have not heard back from the Macomb PD yet but will try and contact for an update today.

Nate,
There are a number on hams on this forum who aggressively attack cheats, lowlifes, crooks, miscreants, riff-raff and conmen. You have attacked honest hams, hams who disagree with you and in general approached this issue as badly as you could have. All of the people who would have actively supported you have jumped off the boat and could care less about your cause!

I am willing to learn Paul.
Please tell me how you would have done it, given the fact that Steve had produced absolutely NO evidence to help himself and has had a past that shows it could very well have happened as shown.

Easy Answer

Post by w8jn » Fri Jul 01, 2011 5:28 pm

Nate,
Everyone was telling you the same thing. You just decided not to listen. Steve may or may not have shipped the rig. I can understand his situation. I sent a pmo to a Ca. ham. Before it arrived, he sold it locally for a few extra $$. I sent it regular mail. I didnt even think to get tracking numbers for a pmo. He tossed it in the garbage can and claimed it never arrived. Shame on me for being sloppy with paperwork. Months later a Ca. ham verified my suspicions. I shipped a rig to Poland, somewhere between 6 and 10 weeks later it arrived. Both of Steves claims are reasonable. It may turn out that he did indeed cheat your friend, however, coming out two weeks after the transaction and trashing
Steve, made you out to be the bully and Steve to be a sympathetic character. You then turned your ire on honest hams who were simply indicating that your claim may have merit, but, you pulled the trigger way to early. Now you are in a battle with Steve and the people who's support you need, the honest ham community.
Best regards
ps I am one of the harshest people on cheats and crooks, however I try to get the facts first.

Easy Answer

Post by NA6TE » Fri Jul 01, 2011 5:53 pm

Paul, the 1st post was with no call and some facts and it had already been 2 weeks since Steve said he shipped and was to send shipping info. All emails stopped so Adrain figured "oh oh I just got hosed" and contacted me. The only thing I was trying to get across was "send the shipping info". When everyone started chiming in with stories of " I sent so & so in some place and it took x amount of time" That's all fine but the point was SEND THE SHIPPING INFO. After Steve saw that I had all the emails and time line he clams up but everyone is telling me to wait longer. Longer for what? We don't have anything that shows the radio existed or shipped. If we had been given the shipping info, then we could wait until the cows come home and deal with the shippers.
Steve started coming up with why he didn't send the info, which is fine but he needed to go to the PO and ask for some help. He said he did that but produced nothing from them, good bad or indifferent. We took it upon ourselves to do dilegence and the more I dug into it the more Steve's stories did not jive.
If you take a look at the heading on this forum, the ones that are for someone getting screwed all start with negative statements. I tried to do it gently and see if Steve could make this go away with private emails.
I am sorry if I offended anyone but it gets very frustrating when you try and pull info from someone and all you get is tales of horror.

TNX Paul for the input.

Timeline for international shipments, two-twelve weeks. unless you pay big $ for express. time for phone calls, police contact and mail fraud is after 12 weeks on international shipments. I am getting the feeling that your suspicions are correct, however you cant bring out the 10 pounder after two weeks.

The burden of proof

Post by kg8lb » Sat Jul 02, 2011 10:51 am

The buyer cannot, need not prove the items were not shipped. The seller needs to prove that point.

I think a big part of the problem many see here is the fact Steve for whatever reason cannot or will not produce proper documentation / proof of shipping.
As the seller, this is his responsibility. If the documentation had been forthcoming most of this could have been avoided.
Now the seller acts offended and responds with indignation . He seems to think he can now minimize his cooperation because his reputation has been assaulted.
Time line aside, the seller has not lived up to his end of the bargain . Couple what is going on now with past history and the buyer's concerns become quite understandable.

Where are the papers ? The buyer has never had them , has the seller ?

Ok, for what it is worth, I said earlier in this post that I would report back when the item I mailed US mail to Croatia on June 8 arrived there. The item arrived on June 30th. That was just 1 day over 3 weeks (22 days). It was shipped regular mail, I guess that is considered international first calss mail. In the past 6 months I shipped small packages, less than a foot square, to Russia and Romania. Those packages arrived in about the same amount of time or perhaps a few days more. But all arrived in less than a month. I hate to pass judgement, but since Steve pointed a finger at me in a dispute I had here on QTH a while back I have to say it is not looking good for him at this point. Although I haven't officially pointed my finger yet, it is starting to rise up slowly.

Steve wrote this in another thread.....

(Why would anyone not think you a crook when it takes you 7 months to promise to resolve an issue? Mistakes happen (I've made my share) but the true measure is how willing and how quick you are to resolve any issues.
We'll see if your word is any good on Friday. )

At this point you've earned a big FAIL!

Steve Speak Up

Post by w8jn » Sat Jul 02, 2011 1:17 pm

Steve,
We are on the edge of the delivery time line. I believe that the majority of hams are still holding off passing judgement. Anthony Weiner had the opportunity to keep the public in his corner by being honest and forthright. He chose the wrong path. Let us know what you have done to this point and what you intend to do over the next few weeks. If the rig does not arrive in the next week or two, you need to initiate a claim and refund your buyers money. Please keep us updated.

3- Steve, I have no vested interest in this "muddle", BUT, as I see it you should get the F'ng info, regardless of what it takes.... If only to"stop the madness"......

4- SEE # 1 & 2 !!!!!!

Steve, It's Time

Post by w8jn » Tue Jul 05, 2011 3:28 pm

Steve, It's going on two months since you shipped Adrians rig. Everyone has stood by you up until now. You need to initiate an insurance claim with the USPS.
They will trace it and advise you as to its status. The post office works slow and it may turn up. They keep records on all international shipments. If you lost all of your paperwork and the post office will not assist you, unfortunately you are going to be sol. Yes, you will be holding the bag. Adrian sent you the money in good faith and your responsibility was to make sure he received the rig or his money back. You have to make this right. Your ability to sell on the ham classifieds depends on your reputation. If it ends up tarnished for a few $$$, the long term effects far exceed $750.

Steve most of us maybe all of us want to believe your version of events but things do appear to be pointing in a not so good way. What has puzzled most of us is your claim to no paper work. I for one keep every bit of proof i have when shipping anything of value. Steve please do not become another of the many Hams that has gone bad to buy from.

Steve, Martha Stewart went to jail for lying to the feds. Roger Clemens is about to head to jail for lying to the authorities, and finally, Casey Anthony was just found not guilty in the death of her daughter, however she was sentenced to 4 years in jail for lying to the police.
You told the police that you sent the package to Romania through Rice Lake, WI P.O. They say "no package went to Romania through them. Are they mistaken, or are you confused?

Steve's Anniversary

Post by NA6TE » Sat Jul 09, 2011 11:40 am

Tomorrow July 10, 2011 will be Steve's 8 week anniversary for NO RADIO and NO SHIPPING INFO. Next week Steve will get another visit and hopefully he will see the light.
As said before "people who lie to the authorities take their chances with the consequences"

However, Steve has enjoyed spending Adrian's money since May, 13, 2011.

Let everyone know how next week turns out Steve.

Since many of the people following this thread may not be aware of the details in the parallel IOMH thread, all should be aware that on Saturday, 9 July, the package in question was returned to Steve by the USPS. No, I don't know why it was returned to him, as he didn't indicate as such in his post (see http://forums.hamisland.net/showthread. ... post358684 Post #60)

All should also be aware that Steve is stating (post #69) that Nate has offered to accept the radio from him and ship it to Adrian himself.

Anything to say Nate?

As usual you only have 1/2 the story Ron.

HEADER REMOVED
Steve,
When I ask for the original packaging, I am looking for the postage stickers and any other identifying marks that were on the outside of the package not necessarily the box it came in. They had to be there when you received it since they knew where to deliver it back to. If there is any extra expense for that I will pay for it.
HEADER REMOVED
Steve, make sure the original packaging is included. I will be more than happy to forward to Adrian. As soon as the package is received I will post the out come. SAVE YOUR SHIPPING INFO THIS TIME

This is the email Steve received from me after the announcement of the package arrival. Since it was to late in the day and the weekend, there should be no excuse for not having the original packaing/markings, etc. No trash pickup and wasn't cold enough to burn in the fireplace.

Let's see if he sends the info. If everything is on the up and up I will appologies as I said earlier in these posts.
So Ron, wait for the fat lady to sing before gloating.

Nate,
I feel the need to explain something to you. Adrian and I made a deal and you are not part of that deal. Now you think you have the power to call the shots. You do not. You've made this whole thing very difficult for me. You've twisted my words and the facts to suit your need. You've tried to use the Police as your private enforcers.

Adrian and you have agreed that I send you the rig, and you would forward it to Adrian which really is doing me a huge favor as I am spending the last $20 I have for the month to do so.

The rig is packed up and ready to go first thing in the morning...what you will not find in the box is the "info" you requested. I do not have a thing to prove to you Nate. I made one little mistake and you've beat me up because of it.

That box is gone Nate. It has mold on it. I have Congestive Heart Failure, Diabetes and I suffer from COPD. I am on Oxygen much of the time. I can not come into contact with that box. Not in the house, the garage, or the garbage. My wife hauled that box away yesterday. I had to move from my last house because of mold that my landlord didn't want to fix.

You'll get the rig, and if that is not good enough, I don't know what to tell you.

By now, and thanks to you I will probably never be able to sell any radio equipment online again. If I was out to rip Adrian off I sure wouldn't be shipping this rig off to you....but I am not like that....I am not like you think I am.

You could have taken a picture and posted it here. This was your opportunity to prove yourself and you just threw the box away? I don't understand that. :?:

For crying out load

Post by NA6TE » Mon Jul 11, 2011 12:00 pm

Steve,
I, unfortunatley won the bet about the proof. I really wanted it to be there to clear you. However, that has to be the most lame excuse I and probably anyone else has heard. Why would someone go to the expense of HAULING IT AWAY when most people have trash cans. If you took pictures before, you could have taken pictures again and you said you were going to take pictures of the new packaging. Sooooooooooooo!!!!!
Adrian and I exchange and cc: along with his son for all communications so I am aware of what has transpired. I got involved because I was asked to help a friend and everything was done with the approval of Adrian and his son Paul.

And to the newbie ham, yes, I have time to help my friends, I'm retired.
Unlike one of the "MISFITS" A Perfect Lid would tell his friends to piss up a rope that he didn't want to get involved but has time to continually flap his pie hole.

Some of the things I learned growing up was a mans word, friendship and a hand shake are like gold.

When you dishonor one you have probably dishonored all.

Waiting for the package...............................Stop playing the VICTIM Steve

"Gloating"??

Nate, you have a real attitude problem.

For the record, I simply pointed out that Steve reported elsewhere that he had been in contact with you, which you hadn't bothered to mention over here. One would have thought that you would have at least done that, considering your many claims of non-contact.

Instead of acknowledging the oversight, you continue on the attack. You give every indicatiion, thereby, that you are going to keep piling it on until you get what you want.

To be perfectly blunt: You may think that you're a real hero coming to Adrian's rescue, but from where I sit, you look like a bully beating up on an invalid. (And that has nothing to do with the fact that Steve is an acquaintance from another web site.) Congratulations.

Well, I'll have to say that I knew you were going to go there. And for good reason. To be frank, I did not think of taking any pictures until it was mentioned on the other site and that after the box was gone.

Expense of hauling it away? What expense? It is in the dumpster down the street and nobody here is going diving.....I certainly am not.

Nate, the radio is en-route to you. The Confirmation number is: 03110240000198686276.

I am at the point now Nate, that I don't really care what you or anybody else thinks. It doesn't matter what I do or say, I am either going to look like a bad guy to some and not to others.

You are the detective here, call the Philips 66 and see if you can get somebody to jump in the dumpster for you. Better yet, call the Macomb Post Office, they will remember that nasty box.
