bigalm1946@yahoo.com using another hams call as his own

Post by N6YM »

bigalm1946@yahoo.com

bigalm1946@yahoo.com responded to a ad I placed through QTH.COM. He gave a name of William Mosley and included a callsign of W4DNN. I checked the callsign, and that callsign is issued to a gentleman with a different name than William Mosley. I emailed W4DNN ( the real one) and he confirmed that that he did not send me the inquiry about my advertisement. I have also emailed bigalm1946@yahoo.com three times asking about the callsign snafu, and have not received a response. The IP address at the end of the inquiry sent to me was 184.227.249.58, which comes back to Overland Park, Kansas.

So be aware that someone using the email address of bigalm1946@yahoo.com is possibly involved in fraudulent activities using QTH.COM classifieds.

I received an email from William Mosley bigalm1946@yahoo.com tonight.
He had dropped the callsign W4DNN from his email identification.
The following is a summary of the exchange via email:

Have not heard back from you willie about your use of someone else's callsign in your email to me.

Ed

I sent him another email asking him what callsign he was going to use next,
am still waiting for the reply.
The email I did receive came from IP 108.107.175.5, hampton georgia area.
Why he thought it was necessary to use a phony callsign in his inquiry to me is a mystery.

Lou-

I look at the email header and gather the IP addresses and plug them into this website
http://www.ip2location.com/demo.aspx
I like this one because you can enter a list of addresses at once.

google "where did this email come from" for more details.
