What kind of radio was "for sale"?

How much were you supposed to pay for it?

How long did K7VS WAIT before selling it locally?

How much, if anything, did you lose?

THE FACTS! JUST THE FACTS!!

I've known Van for a long time and he's always been an up front guy.

Something is for sale until the money is exchanged, or at least that it what I thought.

Wouldn't you do the same thing if someone wanted to purchase something locally so you wouldn't take a chance on UPS busting it like they usually do?? Then you REALLY have a problem.

Don't think you were really out anything.

Not Quite that easy. If the buyer received an email confirming the sale then that should be good enough. Do you think it is fair for someone to go through the effort and expense of obtaining a Money Order just for kicks. I don't. That seems to be a big problem now days, What's right and what's not. I can't believe so many people don't know right from wrong.

I don't know any of the hams involved in this, but I'd have to agree with K9XR. If a seller reached an agreement with a buyer, especially to the point of indicating how payment should be made, then the seller has committed to the deal. Of course, there's nothing legally binding in any of this -- the seller always has the right to change his mind until money actually changes hands. Exercising this right, however, can cause hard feelings if not handled correctly.

what a bunch of cry babies. if he sold it, and he sent back your money order, all you lost was the money order fee. that's the breaks of dealing online. grow up cry babies.

That post has added your call to 'My Don't Deal With List' and probably many other ''Don't Deal With" lists.

Should of kept out of this one...

So if I agreed to sell something to you that you really wanted, I told you where to send your money, you went to the time and trouble to buy a money order, and then I sold it to someone else, you'd think that was ethical? I think that most people would prefer to do business with sellers that keep their word -- it speaks to their integrity. And sellers with integrity usually have good equipment at a fair price.

ok first of all it has happened to me. second: i have done it myself a few times and the people that sent the money order were not offended or xxxxxx off at all. anyone who wants to add me to "their no deal with list" shows me what a cry baby that person really is. i wouldnt want to deal with a clown like that anyway. third: if you can't take being rejected, then i suggest that you go and hide in a closet for the rest of your life because otherwise you will be a basket case. to all the "NORMAL" HAMS OUT THERE I SAY HI AND 73'S. to all the cry babies, i say poo poo to you, and please keep your word and NEVER deal with me.

another thing is that you never know if that seller is going to send you the item. you never know if the seller is playing games or not. sure you can write a complaint on here but stop and think about if it is really going to do any good. wake up and get real. life's a crapshoot. deal with it.

how do you know that the person is going to send the money order in a reasonable time? you don't. what if you wait for it and then a week or more passes and you find out that the buyer changed their mind? has happened alot. you people need to get a grip and wake up and see that this world is not perfect. there are alot of people in this world that like to play games and who like to screw people over. grow up. get some guts and get some reality in your life. people are NOT like they were in the 40's and 50's. there are not many you can trust anymore. whethewr you want to admit it or not, the world has changed, and not for the better. so quit griping and wake up. try and make the best of life and hope you do well.

I believe If he confirmed the sale via email then the item was yours pending payment. If he later had the chance to sell locally then he should have asked you if you would withdraw your offer..Any other way would be unethical on his (K7VS) part..Unless of course,he just doesn`t care how he deals with people..Now I believe a man`s word is his bond...Jim..K7RDX..

To bad that there are many people who waste others time, and have no courtesy at all. We could go on and on about this.

It's not nice or the proper thing to do and waste others time.

Ask yourself, would I like or appreciate this act if it was me.

Get some class and don't waste others time.

NOW, MY SIDE OF THE STORY. THIS WHOLE THING INCLUDING N3ZAS INITIAL QUERY ABOUT THE RADIO TOOK PLACE IN A FIVE HOUR TIME FRAME ON AUGUST 7. HIS INITIAL EMAIL ASKED IF THE RADIO WAS STILL FOR SALE. MY REPLY A SHORT TIME LATE WAS YES, BLAH BLAH BLAH. HIS SPEEDY RESPONSE WAS "GREAT I WILL TAKE IT" BLAH BLAH BLAH.. MY NEXT EMAIL WITHIN THE HOUR WAS SIMPLY ASKING FOR SOME INFORMATION AND I BELIEVE PASSING ON MY ADDRESS. ABOUT TWO HOURS LATER A LOCAL FELLOW SAW THE POST AND OFFERED TO COME OVER TO THE HOUSE AND PICK IT UP (WHICH IN FACT HE DID) I SENT AN IMMEDIATE EMAIL TO THIS FELLOW AND SAID "I WAS TAKING THE COWARD'S WAY OUT" AND SELLING IT LOCALLY. AND SAID I WAS SORRY. THIS ALL HAPPENED WITHIN A FIVE HOUR SPAN ON AUG. 7TH. WE WERE HEADING OUT THE FOLLOWING DAY AND WOULD BE AWAY FOR SEVERAL DAYS WITHOUT EMAIL AND IT WAS THE EASY WAY OUT. THE FOLLOW ACTUALLY DIDN'T EVEN HAVE TIME TO REPLY TO MY EMAIL ASKING FOR ADDRESS INFO. SORRY ABOUT THE WHOLE THING BUT I DON'T THINK I AM A BAD GUY.

First of all, it would be a great idea to lose the CAPS.

My opinion (and everyone has one) is that you should have told the second (local) buyer that you had a deal pending and if it fell through you would get in touch with him. If you didn't want to ship it, you should have said that in your original post. You basically sold it for a better deal for yourself after you made a commitment to sell it to someone else. You are saying your word doesn't count for much and you think that is OK because you found something easier.

The best and most honest way is not always the easiest way.

I agree with this assessment. When you've agreed to sell it, with no conditions, and accepted the offer to buy, it's a "deal," unless your word is no good. :!:

A deal is NOT a deal unless money has been sent and received. I can't count the times when someone said "I'll take it". Then I waited three or four days only to receive an email saying they changed their minds. That's why I ALWAYS insist on PayPal. K7VS hadn't received payment and therefore should be able to sell to whoever puts down the cash first. I suggest that buyers should open a PayPal account or be ready to find themselves in this kind of situation. Money talks, and PayPal offers an "instant" payment. K7VS...I'd buy from you anytime. Using PayPal.

How come you guys didn't jump the OP for using caps, but you do jump the other half of the story?

Just curious, I always thought what was good for the goose.........

Maybe because it was 5 short lines that were easy to read and not 7 long lines that were difficult to read.

Wow! There must be something in the OREGON water that makes hams from there think the way that they do.
Or is it just a coincidence, or could it be that..... No, that could never be.

What ever happened to "an egg in hand is worth 2 in the bush?"
He notified the prospective buy across the country that a local came into the picture and paid for the item.....so.......what's up???
He did nothing wrong.
He sold his item.
He notified the other person
So,,,, what's the fuss????
You guys have too much time on the books in my opinion.
