Modifying Ads

Post by KJ4IGZ »

I can understand someone reposting their ad ONCE each day to keep it fresh . However modifying ones ad several times a day is annoying for those that look for new items . Please keep modifications to once a day unless something is wrong with the ad . I dont want to see your equipment on the top of every list each time I take a look .

BUT , I have done it many times and it is 100% better in selling. MOST people look at the ticker only and will not scroll thru the adds. I am SURE you have looked at the ticker only many times as well ???? (A ticker is a real time add that captures the last 20 or so items)

I have let things sit for 3 or 4 days , then listed it 4 times in one day and BAM , it sells. I just did one today...

I only look there myself....

I suppose everybody has a different way of doing it. I usually scroll down about 5 or 6 times a day. When I get to where they are repeats, I stop scrolling. The problem with the ads that keep popping up maybe 8-10 times a day (and that's no exaggeration) and it makes you think you have the read the ads below it and you stop. It doesn't seem fair that the same ads keep coming to the top. No one is going to complain about the ads coming up 3 times in one day, but anything beyond that is kind of crazy. As I said in another post that is why the rule was put in force to limit ads to 3 edits.

Oh , I agree on the multiple adds in a "row" where someone hits enter, then back up , then enter , then back up , 4 or 5 times straight. That's irritating. What I mean that I was talking about is 3 or 4 times a day where they are even rolled off the ticker...

I agree that the"modification" thing is abused - in some cases to the extreme.
Scott has more to do than monitor the pests that persist in the practice.

Maybe a pointed reminder to the offender that the practice has risen to the annoyance level, would suffice.

Often the items are overpriced and undesirable - sometimes 10 times what the item would bring at a Hamfest or Swapmeet.
