Idiom Press----Bad business

Post by N2EIK »

I was interested in an Idiom Press SDX controller card and sent Idiom a couple questions about serial ports and he (Rob Locher) responded VERY quickly. I ordered the card on thier site using paypal. Two weeks went by and I did not receive anything so I called and after a couple tries talked to someone and he told me "some parts were back ordered and it would be a week before they ship"... Well.... many weeks and several months and no shipment and no one answering the phone at Idiom and not returning emails and not repsonding to faxes so I started leaving messages via email and fax and when I could get a voicemail at idiom telling him to cancel my order.

Three months later:
I open my email and found this:
"Hi John,
Your RotorCard SDX that you ordered ages and ages ago is finally on its
way to you. I'm embarrassed that it took so long. Sorry for the
inconvenience, and thanks for your business.

Idiom Press "

Of course my paypal was charged and paypal will not refund the money
because "I DID order it" even though I told them I canceled the order months ago!!! And true to form, this guy dont answer his phone or emails or faxes.

Guess what...I dont want the damn card. Even if he makes good and I get it what kind of service can I expect if it has a problem?

Is he a crook? Im not sure. If I get the card then no he is not...just a very very very bad businessman.
Is his father "A respected and renowned author and Ham" as I had read elsewhere? Well if so, that dont make Rob (jr?) a good businessman either.

I will continue fighting paypal and send a complaint to the Oregon Attorney Genrals office. Its $135. My kids arent going to starve but when I say dont ship an item and they flagrantly dissmiss that request and force the card down my throat I start to feel like a red headed step child.

Sounds like a business that's failing and you can see the reasons why.by the treatment of their most important asset., the customer. Hope this works out for you in the end.73

follow up

Post by N2EIK »

I should follow up by saying I got this last night:
Hi John,

I messed that up, sorry, I charged your credit card and mailed the RotorCard SDX yesterday. I just now refunded the $134.95 back to your MasterCard ending in 5799. You should see the refund in a few days. When the parcel gets to you please just give it to your mail delivery person or the Post Office without opening it, and tell the postal employee that you refuse the parcel. They'll return the parcel to me without charging you anything.

I apologize for the inconvenience.

Idiom Press...Please contact me!!!!!

Post by KC9LIF »

Rob,

I have made many attempts to contact you and let you know that the card I used for the Logitaker has expired and I will be happy to give you a new number if you would just contact me. If you will remember, I was the first person to pre-order the device back on the first of May, and you responded then that I should expect it by May 29th. I have emailed and phoned you a dozen or so times since mid-July with no response. Since then my cc has expired, but have a new expiration date, and I would like soon as possible and not have to be put at the end of the linefor one of them b/c my card expired. Order # 6379. Would it be possible to have someone contact me????? :x

With customer service like this why would you still want to purchase the card?
Just think what will happen if you need warranty service!

Idiom Press--talked with Rob

Post by KC9LIF »

I had previously posted my frustration with the lack of communication with Idiom Press. I was happy to get a call from Rob at the company who indicated to me the difficulties he has been having with my order and how backlogged he is. He apologized for the delays and especially the lack of commucation which he is working to improve. I shared with him my frustration and hoped that he would do better in the future. He indicated that he would be sending my product as soon as he can. My hope that he will be able to navigate his success and improve his ability to communicate with his customers.
