Could it be the same Brandon Duke we always read about ........
LONGMONT - A man with more than one warrant out for his arrest was injured after exchanging gunfire with a Longmont Police officer Saturday morning. The officer was not injured in the incident.
Longmont Police say they spotted 22-year-old Brandon Michael Duke, who had an assault warrant out for his arrest, in the 100 block of South Main in Longmont about 8 a.m. Saturday. Duke ran away as an officer tried to make contact.
"It was unusual. Not sure what was going through his head - very poor decision to fire at officer Blake. We don't know why he took the action he took," Michael Butler, Longmont Public Safety Chief, said.
Police say as the officer pursued Duke on foot, he drew a small semi-automatic handgun and began firing at the officer.
The officer fired back, and the suspect was shot. He was taken to Longmont United Hospital, with non-life threatening injuries.
