a great deal from Bill Cole KD8SJ:
Bill KD8SJ and I just have completed a trade of some nice gear I had for some equally nice gear he had. Our communication was great and everything arrived in great condition. Bill and I know how to pack gear for shipping and everything on each end arrived undamaged. I have only had one bad email about packing. The guy said I used too much packing and could have saved a few bucks by not using "all that stuff". Oh well we can't all be perfect...73 all and play nice, Terry N8ERM
Same thing happened to me Terry. If I am shipping radio gear my normal practice is to enclose the radio in plastic and then I put a layer of expanding foam in the box, place the radio and then fill the box the rest of the way with the foam. I once shipped a rig to a ham in New Mexico who told me it took him a half hour to get the radio out but it was undamaged. Said it looked like a giant "rice krispie"!
