Do NOT deal with W0FJR

Post by ve7zn »

Possible scammer. Bought a radio from me, paid by PayPal on a Friday night, and even though I told him it would not be shipped until Monday as it was a holiday weekend here, at 10:35am Tuesday morning he filed a dispute with PayPal claiming goods not received. He claimed to PayPal that he'd sent numerous emails to me and received no replies. Rubbish. He'd sent a total of 9 emails all of which I responded to in a timely fashion. 4 of the 9 emails were questions about the radio (he thought the RX IF filters in a TS-850 would give him wideband transmit audio) and exchange of pictures and shipping info. The 5th email from him was to inform me he'd sent the payment via PayPal. The last 4 emails to me were about the matching speaker and whether he wanted to buy that as well. NO OTHER EMAILS were sent to me, until I received the PayPal dispute notification. I told him via email I'd be shipping it Tuesday morning as we did not get back to the mainland in time on Monday (3 sailing ferry wait) but after thinking about it I emailed him back and told him I would NOT sell him my rig and immediately refunded his money. Given the timeline and his lack of understanding about the radio I believe he or someone posing as him intended to get the radio and keep some sort of dispute open with PayPal. Even if the radio had shipped out Monday, he was only paying for UPS Ground and it would never have arrived by 10:35am on Tuesday! Next time I think it will be USPS MO only...
