WA4KM KEVIN MCCLURE Be Carful!

As some of you know I don't have a lot of faith in the feedback system here on QTH. It is obvious that some sellers have a deal where they think they have to set a record for feedback even to the point of starting a new thread from feedback they received in another thread. I just don't understand all of this. I have contended for a long time that as long as we know who the crooks and scammers are, the feedback is doing its job. It seems kind of juvenile to to make a big deal out of somebody just doing what they are supposed to do in completing a deal.
That being said, on July 2, 2014 Kevin McClure WA4KM had an for a Round Emblem Collins S-line that that got my attention. It was a 75S-3B, 32S-3, 312B-4, and 516F-2 power Supply. The Price was $1800 which seemed like a fair price for an S3-line in "good condition". He had pictures posted of the fronts of the rigs, and other than a little of the hi-lighter missing on the receiver faceplate, ity looked to be in good shape. I asked for more pictures and he sent me the same pictures only close -up. I asked him if he had any of the sides and he said he could take them but it would be a pain. I said OK, than how is the paint. He told me that with the exception on a little worn spot on the side of the receiver the paint was all fine and in good shape. I paid via PayPal and he shipped it on July 3.
I received them via FEDEX on Tuesday the 8, and as soon as I laid my eyes on the boxes I knew I was in trouble. Kevin had told me that they were all double boxed. Yes they were double boxed with used made to fit boxes inside another box with very little or no packing material in them. He didn't even have the common sense to put the units in a plastic bag so they didn't get all scratched up by the cardboard. After I opened them all up I called Kevin and told him that we had a problem. The Power Supply had gotten the worst of it. the cabinet had actually be bent up from the bottom. I don't know for sure, but the fact that only 2 of the 4 screws were fastened to the cabinet might have had something to do with it. One of the tubes was also broken. The Receiver worn spot that he said was about the size of a thumbnail was actually a dent about the size of my thumb. There were all kinds of scratches on all of the units, corrosion on the inside of the receiver and transmitter. Kevin didn't seem surprised when I told him about all of the imperfections. He said it was "listed as in good condition, not very good or excellent condition according to the Collins Collectors Association." So I told him that our opinions of "good" differed so much I was going to send them back for a refund. He said OK but I would not get my shipping monies back. I sent him about 50 pictures and the next day he said that the power supply must have been damaged by fedex. So he said he was filing a claim. So he told me to pack them back up EXACTLY the way I got them and FEDEX would pick them up on Friday the 11th. I did as he asked and now I had no money and no radios. He said I had to wait for him to inspect them before he would refund my money. I didn't think too much of that because I knew that FEDEX would never honor a claim because of the way they were packed. I don't know if they settled with him or not but I would be really surprised if they did.PayPal gave me my money back because the fedex tracking said they were picked up at the original shippers direction and as far as they were concerned they were his. Well, of course he appealed the PayPal decision because now he is claiming that they worked when he sent them but didn't work when he got them back. I don't know if it ever dawned on him that any damage done was the result of poor packing.
So as of now he has his radios and I have my money. i must say that he DID to let me keep the radios at a reduced price but I wanted no part of them. If anybody is interested in pictures or correspondence from Kevin, I can send them if it has something to do with the deal. I will NOT send them to the usual picture collectors.
The main reason I put this on here was to let anybody that may have an opportunity to buy them know what will really be getting.
