AB4XA - Gerald - Did NOT keep his part of the bargain

Post by k7hi »

I bought an LDG 4:1 balun from Gerald. We agreed on a price, including shipping. Within a few hours, I sent my PayPal for the agreed upon amount. Next day, I receive an email from Gerald stating "I sold it locally" and my PayPal was returned.

Once a seller has accepted an offer and buyer sends a PayPal, seller is obligated to deliver the goods unless there are extraordinary circumstances. "Selling to a local buyer" just doesn't cut any ice. Anyone who pulls this on Ebay merits negative feedback and that should be true in this venue as well. There was not alot of money involved and you could say it's not that big of a deal. But a deal is a deal and both sides must honor their obligations for the system to work as intended.

Sorry Howard this is not ebay. There is not much you can do especially if he has fully refunded your money.

Howard, it depends a lot on communications here (ironically). If you accepted the deal, and perhaps waited a day or two before you responded and/or sent him the funds, then he may have thought you weren't interested in the deal. Many times, I have thought I "closed the deal" only to hear nothing back from the person and in the meantime, I had already accepted an offer from another party that paid promptly. Of course, I am unsure if this happened in your case, but there may be logical reasoning behind why he sold it locally and subsequently refunded your money.

Howard says he sent payment within a few hours and the very next day it was refunded back to his paypal account. If this is the case I can feel for Howard. In my opinion,of course. :)

That is a very true statement, Ralph. Fortunately, it still is for the majority of hams....It's just the few bad apples (rotten bacon?) that makes it tough to find out who you CAN trust nowadays. BTW, thanks for the excellent trade deal we had. You are one of the trustworthy ones in my book.
