For reports of scammers using other people's callsigns. Remember that any callsigns listed in this forum are likely innocent bystanders (subjects of identity theft) and, thus, are probably not guilty of anything. For bad transactions with verified ham operators, use the Feedback Forum instead.

Active Scammer

Post by AB4D »

I recently ran a want ad here and on QRZ. I had four responses. One was valid and three were from scammers. The email address for two were Gmail accounts with the first name and call @ gmail. The other was using another name call @ gmx.com. The MO was the same with all three, none of the calls used had an email address on file with their QRZ call sign look up page, and all contact was done by direct email.

The names/calls used were Frank Damron, KC7FK; Michael Wood, K6MW; and Michael Isakson, W7XH. There were other red flags as well. Payment demands using only family friend's on PayPal, and to a different person's account, or bank transfer. Just beware.
