IC-9100 potential scam

Post by N8MSA »

Hi everyone -

I responded to Listing #1167957 - an Icom IC-9100 listed someone who may or may not be AA8WV, and everything about the subsequent correspondence has been questionable:

- Offered significantly less than the listed price, which was immediately accepted without counteroffer
- I was sent bank routing information, with the name on the account different than the name of the seller
- I refused to pay via EFT, requested to speak to the seller who then called me from four different "Google" numbers
- The FCC database shows AA8WV to be in Ohio, but the IP address for the QTH listing resolves to Kansas
- I offered to drive to Ohio and give the seller cash, which he refused and insisted on an EFT

This reeks of fraud. Be careful with this one...
