Clever Scammer Alert!!!

For reports of scammers using other people's callsigns. Remember that any callsigns listed in this forum are likely innocent bystanders (subjects of identity theft) and, thus, are probably not guilty of anything. For bad transactions with verified ham operators, use the Feedback Forum instead.

Clever Scammer Alert!!!

Post by wb2imh » Thu May 07, 2020 6:38 pm

I just received a phishing e-mail from someone who attached a message to a valid e-mail that I had correspondence with a few days ago. The message read "I have important information for you. Please see attached document". The sender line read "no sender", the topic line had the item I was selling (which has been sold), and the body of the e-mail had all the correspondence that I had with the person who responded to my ad (he is a legitimate ham). Be aware that you must delete this e-mail immediately and by no means open the document. Just a heads up for everyone out there.
