LEAVE THE TUBES IN THE AMP!

Post by w7apm »

I have shipped quite a few amplifiers and wrap the tubes with bubble wrap after removing them from the sockets. I use enough packing so the tubes are wedged inside the case tightly when I put the cover on. The amplifier case is stronger than a cardboard box and also saves the cost of shipping another box!

dont forget to fully mesh all air variables when shipping the tubes wrapped inside.
got an amp that was shipped with the tubes bubblewrapped inside where they hit the load and bent it.took me a while to get it perfect again.

Some amps have the tubes built with positive locking, like the Yaesu 2100 series, they have a metal snap locking ring that secures them very well, I sent an FL-2100 series with the tubes in the sockets to the Greater Antilles without a problem.
